Well, the past couple of days I have contemplated remarks I received last weekend while going out to chill with a long time friend. He came to visit up from Florida and there was no way I was missing a chance to hang with him one last time before he left. So after he scooped me up we were hanging out with two black girls and me I’m just being; well me. Of course like always the subject of why am I still single came up as it always does. Seeing this opportunity I tried to educate them in breaking out of the subjective way of thinking when coming to relationships or “love” I broke down the different points in a women’s life I have encountered and battled in my quest for someone. I even impressed them with the quick responses to their excuses why it is what is it is. I concluded my case with the longer I do stay single the more it worries a women when they can’t find anything wrong with me. (I should have been a lawyer) Then the tone of the night seemed to change. It moved from so many good things about me to trying to pick out what was wrong with me. Therefore choose your battles fans; I definitely didn’t want to escalate this argument because I’m not stupid black women can fight and they will sucker punch you without hesitation. (OUCH) Then to add insult to injury I later found out that I in their eyes I’m get this “White Washed” lol.
So it got me thinking what does it take to be black?
